2 Year Anniversary Invitational

Opening reception Saturday, November 22nd, 6:30 - 10:00 pm.

Two years already! Hard to believe.

My special thanks to Madalyn and Les Bruning for putting the inaugural show together back in 2001 and kicking this thing off with a bang.

Thanks, also, to all of the Artists and Gallery Patrons who have been instrumental in keeping the Louisville Art Gallery a viable entity.

"The Second Anniversary Show" opens with an artists' reception on Saturday evening, November 22nd, from 6:30 to 10:00 pm, and runs through January 18, 2004.

Although the Gallery is in a bit of disarray, the show is coming together nicely. Many of the artists that have been with the Gallery since the beginning have been bringing in new and recent work.

And, along with some newer faces, this is looking to be a grand celebration. Les Bruning, Madalyn Bruning, Melissa Husby, Valerie Light Anderson, Mike Dalton, Jean Mason, James Freeman, Jennifer Moody, Dan Toberer, Tom Harnack, Liz Vercruysse, Rita Murphy, Bonnie Mercer, John Vanman, and of course Ed Fennell, who keeps the glass flowing my way from his Crystal Forge studio.

More recent additions to the Gallery participating in the show include Ben Marxhausen, Brenda Everson-Wiesman, Wendy Deane, Shelly Bartek, Peter Scherr, James Bond, Dan Newberry, John Dennison, Amy Smith, Pam Daly, Larry Pelter, Jesse Medina, Clarisse Hastie, Roula Ayoub, Dave Melby, Yanna Raemakers, and wildlife sculptor Scott Scherer.

There are also a few new faces joining the madness for the first time. Painter Maria Francomacaro, oil painter Deb Grosser, potter Tom Hubbel, sculptor Mike Godek, painter/sculptor Vasiljev Nini from Albania, now living in the USA, and wood turner Dale Robbins.

Dale's work is top of the line, with many of his pieces created on a custom 6,000+ pound lathe that he engineered himself.

I truly apologize if I missed anyone, for if not for the exceptional work of all the potters, painters, sculptors and glass blower, the first two years would never have been possible.

Local poet Heidi Hermanson stopped in the other day and suggested a poetry reading in the Gallery. I said "Pick a date", and she did. Wasting no time, she chose the winter solstice, Sunday, December 21st, for this afternoon event.

Finish up that holiday shopping early and plan on stopping down for an afternoon of relaxation before heading off to the family gatherings later in the week. Watch for an e-mail with details as soon as they are worked out.

SPECIAL HOLIDAY HOURS Thanks to a little volunteer help, the Gallery will be open Thursdays and Fridays in December, 11:30 - 4:00, until Christmas.

Last, if you have read this far, I want to let everyone know that the Gallery will be closed the weekends following Christmas and New Years, and from January 19 until March 20, when we reopen with the "18 x 18 Invitational". Watch for more information on that one!
